L2 Empuraan – You Disappointed By Regretting Laletta!

L2 Empuraan is one of the biggest movies in the history of the Indian cinema, the movie generated immense anticipation and broke pre-release records. L2 Empuraan was released on March 27th, the film quickly filled theaters worldwide, with early-day shows selling out, something which the king of the Malayalam film industry can only do. Viewers praised its “Hollywood-level” production and stunning visuals.

However, the L2 Empuraan’s storyline, which allegedly tackles sensitive political moments in Indian history and implicates a specific political party, ignited a firestorm of controversy. Lead actor Mohanlal (affectionately known as Lalettan) and the filmmakers faced intense cyberattacks, while simultaneously receiving significant support from fans and political allies in Kerala.

Despite this support, Mohanlal’s subsequent actions have left many, including myself, deeply disappointed. He posted a regretful message on his social media platforms, and the filmmakers announced their decision to make 17 cuts to the film, reportedly under pressure from cyber attackers. It’s important to note that no official orders mandated these cuts.

For a veteran actor like Mohanlal, with over 40 years of experience in the industry, this display of perceived weakness is disheartening. He once famously declared, “Ente pillar und” (My boys are with me), signifying the unwavering support of his fans. We, his fans, stand by him through any challenge, regardless of cyberattacks.

Therefore, his regretful post feels like a betrayal. It’s as if the cyber attackers have successfully silenced the film. The filmmakers’ decision to cave under pressure is equally troubling. Art and cinema should be appreciated and treated as such, free from undue influence.

I express my disappointment to the man I deeply admire and respect. I never expected this, Laletta. We are all here for you.
